ANNA - AUTUMN 2005

I am a chocoholic, as is my sister Elodie. When daddy asks me to bring the bottle of milk to the fridge, I perfectly understand his request. That I don't return, is not because of misunderstanding, but because of finding the chocolate sprinkles in the fridge.

My parents had a new bed made for me, an exact copy from my doll's bed, only bigger. Problem is, I can climb out at night, and go for the fridge. My parents had to find a key for the fridge and lock it at night. But sometimes they forget.
If it appears in the middle of night they have indeed locked the fridge door, I go on to Elodie's room, and ask her to read me from "Little bear, where are you going". That is my favorite book; I have a bear myself, a present from my aunt, but it is so big that I play the role of Little Bear.

In September, we went to Chittagong to attend the wedding of a friend. We decided to stay for the weekend, but as it was pouring with rain, we got extremely wet. I mostly liked the zoo (full of monkeys like me) and Bisneyland, and I enjoyed the roller coaster ride together with Victor.
In the weekends, we mostly go to the Dutch Club to swim. I like to go but I don't want to go really into the water, far too scary and deep. Therefore, I cling to whomever is closest and scream if they threaten to let go off me. The shower is actually one of the most attractive places. And the friends of course! I always invite them to shower with me; it is not for nothing, that they say: "Save water, shower with a friend."

My favorite story is Winnie the Poeh, but as I am also very attached to the elephant still, I prefer to call him "Elepoeh". My mother bought Poehs latest DVD for me: "Winnie the Poeh and the Heffalump". No she is annoyed with me, because even though I cannot pronounce the name right (or don't want to) I do know how to operate the TV and DVD player. Almost every morning I come out of bed and my parents, barely awake, will find me sitting in the living room, watching my friends. I have to see the film at least three times a day. Boring? What do you mean? Not for a true Poeh-a-holic like me. Only problem is, I always keep the TV occuped, and my brothers and sisters also want to watch from time to time. As my voice is far louder than theirs, guess what we will watch.... By the way, Heffalump is supposed to be the way a child pronounces the word elephant; elephant? what is wrong with that word? I can already say that since I was one year old.
Furthermore, I am also an artist. Being of Dutch origin, I am probably a descendant of Appel or Rembrandt. You see, what I come home with form my Preschool? The most beautifully cut out colored fish, birds and people. And I can also write my name. My mother thinks, that the teachers are a little overambitious to please the parents. She thinks she is an expert after having given birth to four kids and states, that a child of two and a half cannot create such works of art. Bulls.... I came home with them, didn't I? Does she think I stole them from somewhere? And anyway, she hangs them in a permanent exhibition. So apparently, secretly she is still a little proud of me.
In November, we went to Hua Hin, in Thailand. Even though by then it is supposed to be nice weather, we were unlucky. It was raining almost every day, there were thunderstorms and sometimes, the house was shaking. To the left you can see my father and me in the sea, the boys and Elodie three small spots. Ten minutes after that, we had to run for our lives as rain was pouring down and we did not even have time to change, so we just drove home all the way in our swimming gear. My father was so busy running away, that he found out when we came home, that he left his pants on the beach, where they probably still are. In the meantime, in Dhaka at home the weather was sunny without a cloud. Nevertheless, we had a good time, not in the least because of the nice seafood, the ice-cream at a large frequency and the great chocolate milkshakes.
