In March 2005, I made another contribution to Flying Babies, as we went to
Thailand on a holiday, six days to
Chiang
Mai and
four
days to
Bangkok.
I was all dressed to go as you can see on the first
picture. Holidays I do
not care too much about, but I think it is great to be with daddy and mummy
all the time. Normally I don't get to
see them often, they are always working, socializing, sporting and so on. So
I enjoyed that and joined in every activity. Even reading in the plane I
liked, and eating with chop sticks.
It was a very demanding holiday, as we walked many miles. First we had to
climb 300 steps to the Doi Suthep temple, then my parents were insane enough
to book a three day trekking, that meant three days of walking. It is no
good for your poor feet. Not that I suffered, because I was sitting all the
time as a queen in the back pack at my father's back. Even during the
elephant ride, which was a little bit scary, they just tied the back pack
with a rope to the elephant's seat and off we went!
They also took me rafting and since I cannot swim yet, I had to wear a life
vest. The smallest one they had was for a five year old, so I could swim
inside that vest. The water was only knee deep, so there was not so much
risk of drowning.
After that we went off to Bangkok. Here I even had the chance to go with my
parents to the temple, as the others had grumbled so long about temples,
that they decided to only take their sweetest child. We visited the zoo as
well, which I really liked, because one of the animals I got to like in
Thailand is the "ellepant", and in the zoo, I could take a proper
look at my gray friends again, even though that was not totally the same as
riding their back in the jungle.
Being the smallest one in a large family, I am a little spoilt. And I know
it. Whereas my brothers and sister ask for things and almost never get them,
I almost always get everything I ask for. So when we were in Bangkok
airport, I spotted a toy shop. Within 5 minutes. I piled up all the toys I
remotely liked in my arms, handed them over to my father and started another
round of search. They did not let me keep all the toys I selected, but I got
away with two, not bad for a one-year-old.
The end of the holiday came all too soon and I did not like that at all. The
first day after we came back, my mother had to go back to work and I
screamed my head off. When she came home, I clung to her skirt and stayed
there all evening, shouting an occasional "Bye bye" at Karmella. I
did not want to go to bed and exercised my lungs all the time. Of course, it
did not have any effect. Karmella did not leave and my mother continued to
go to work. After a few days I decided to give in and wait for the next
holiday.
