Mix all the ingredients well to a dough and form
about 100 balls. Put these on a greased baking tray and bake 12 minutes at 170
degrees. They will probably not look as nice as on the picture, but they will
taste much better!
|
Melt the butter and dissolve
the sugar and pancake syrup. Take the mixture off the heat and stir in the
other ingredients. Mix well, put the dough in the fridge for two hours. Roll
it out en cut out small squares or circles, using for instance an apple
drill. Bake 15 minutes at 175 degrees Celsius.

Kruidnoten are a part of the Dutch Sinterklaas tradition, just like
speculaas. The Zwarte Pieten (Black
Peters), helpers of Sinterklaas, carry the cookies in jute bags and throw
them at the kids.
|
Pepernoten are also
small Sinterklaas-related cookies. They look the same on the picture, but
taste completely different. Kruidnoten are crispy like
speculaas,
whereas pepernoten have more
or less the same consistency as
gingerbread
men.
