VICTOR 2005

In September 2005, we went to Chittagong, to attend the wedding of a friend. We stayed there the weekend, to make up for the lack of time we had the last time when we traveled through Chittagong on the way to Cox's Bazar and St Martin's Island.
This time we made a thorough visit and to make up for the boring part with regards to mosques and a graveyard, we also went to "Bisneyland". That was big fun, with a large roller coaster (wink wink) and motor boats. We also visited the zoo and the harbor by night, which was really impressive.
In the evening, we visited our friend who has a coin collection; especially the coin from Alexander the Great I found extremely interesting. But when the conversation went on and on, I was happy to have brought my gameboy with me; you cannot believe how much those adults can talk sometimes about nothing.

On the way to Dhaka, we visited the house of the parents of our driver. It was raining cats and dogs and the road towards the house, about ten minutes on foot, was submerged. We managed only to keep our hair dry. In the village the children were playing naked in the rain; good idea!

And then again my birthday has come. 12 years already! I am almost a man, and I will be able to do what I want. Too bad that no matter how many times I celebrate my birthday, everybody in the family has more rights than I. Vincent because he is older, Anna because she is a baby and Elodie because she screams so loud.
When we were traveling in the neighborhood of Chittagong, we visited the ship-breaking yards. These ships are gigantic and they take so many things from the inside, that around the corner from the yards you can find a large row of shops, all selling ship's attributes. Especially the ship's telescope caught my eye. My mother kept trying to put me off, she said it was not for looking at the stars and probably a fake, and on top of that horrendously expensive. So she did not buy me one. But when my birthday came one week later, she appeared to have found one in Dhaka. So I am looking at the stars every night, and don't think I cannot see them.
