VICTOR 2005 - 2006

In November, we went to Hua Hin, in Thailand. Even though by then it is supposed to be nice weather, we were unlucky. It was raining almost every day, there were thunderstorms and sometimes, the house was shaking. In the picture, you can see us swimming under a very dark sky, I am the left one of those tiny spots. Ten minutes after that, we had to run for our lives as rain was pouring down and we did not even have time to change, so we just drove home all the way in our swimming gear. Teb was so busy running away, that he found out when we came home, that he left his pants on the beach, where they probably still are. In the meantime, in Dhaka at home the weather was sunny without a cloud. Nevertheless, we had a good time, with swimming and ice cream at least once a day.

We go to scouting every week, and as you can see form the picture, we are good scouts, obediently dressed in uniform. Another uniform we liked was the "Black Peter", the helper of Sinterklaas. We scared the wits out of our sister Anna, who did not recognise us behind the black paint.
Footprints of a tiger cubIn March 2006, we went on a trip to the Sundarbans. We, that is my mother, Elodie and I. Vincent did not want to come, as he thought it was boring - once was OK (he had been there last year on a scouting trip with me) but twice was too much in a man's life. Honestly, for me it was already the third time! And Anna was not allowed, since my mother actually wanted to be bored for once, and Anna cannot swim yet. This was another scouting trip, so I could work on my merits. I am great at recognizing birds and their sounds. My mother cannot even recognize a parrot from an eagle, but well, she is a woman, what can I say. We saw and hear lots of birds, deer, reptiles, dolphins and wild boar. From the tiger, we unfortunately only saw traces (see picture, these are paws of a tiger cub). From the crocodile we did not see anything at all.
The Sundarbans are full of water and mud. The mud was great to play in. We were sliding in it and covering ourselves. Our shoes and bodies needed an extensive bath each day. Also, we jumped off the boat for swimming. Of course, Elodie behaved like a sissy and it took her more than one and a half day to make her first jump. I, on the other hand, was the first one to jump and the last one as well after the adults had already announced "last jump" several times.

After the trip, we also had the Ceremony of Honors, where I became a "Second class scout" because I earned so many merit badges. One of them is the bird merit badge, I can recognize many birds now by sound and looks, and try to kill them all with one stone.
