![]() ![]() In June 2006, we were in the
middle of the World Cup football. To the disgust of my mother, football was
everywhere, even in
Bangladesh. She thought she had escaped by moving here. Luckily this was
not the case, and we could watch the match everywhere, at home, in the Dutch
Club, in the restaurants, in the windows of shops. Some of the football
clubs had to buy torches because they kept loosing their matches. Not the
Netherlands, however, at least not in the beginning. In the mean time, there was the awards ceremony, and guess what, I won two awards and I was the only one of the family to win anything at all! One award for technology and one for Palmtop use. So from now on, if my mother complains about my laziness and says I am not making my homework, I will make long noses at her. During the holidays, I will sleep in and be occupied with my favorite pastimes: Playstation, computer, gameboy, palmtop and Yugioh cards. Even though the cards are a little old fashioned, and little Anna is often playing with them. Her favorite one she calls "grandmother" but I doubt her grandmother will like that. After the award ceremony the school closed and it was time to go on holiday. We went for four days to London, where Teb participated in the London 100 years of car parade. After that, we did a lot of sight seeing, like going to the Museum of Natural History, the Zoo, the Thames, the Tower and so on. You can see how they put me in a cage in London Zoo, for being so destructive. Then it was on to the Netherlands, where I enjoyed amusement parks, fishing, cinema, skateboarding, cycling and playing outside. We made long cycle tours through the woods, and as my mother sometimes did not read the signs well, I ended up with a pain in my backside (not being my mother this time). |

| Between the Netherlands and Bangladesh, we made a stopover on Langkawi. We had a bungalow, which was practically on the beach, and we were swimming and doing water sports. The Flyfish was big fun; they tried to make us fall in the water but only managed to do so with Elodie. We also went snoreling and I saw black tip sharks. My mother thought they were a product of my vivid imagination, but I can assure you they were real. My mother also had to admit that and even managed to make a picture. While the tourists were feeding the fish their bread and chicken for lunch, the harks were feeding themselves on the fish. | ||||||||

Back in school, I started in grade 8. I have to be careful with my homework slips this year, as last year I was in trouble, when my mother found a hidden one in one of the pockets of my pants. I joined the swim team and participated in contests. I could not win, as one of the participants was the "Army school". where sports makes up half of the curriculum. These boys all look like the Hulk and swim like madmen. But if it were not for them, I did a good job. |
