VICTOR AUTUMN 2006

Already a month or so later, it was time for holiday again. After finishing the horrible Ramadan, we had a week of for Eid holidays, and went to Bali. Here I made my first dive, which was awesome. Next holiday I will try to get my PADI. We also went to the tree top adventure park, where I finished all three rounds, even though the last one not without some very scary moments. Luckily we were wearing safety gear so the worst that could happen, was that you ended up dangling on two ropes.
This year, when Sinterklaas came to Dhaka, Vincent, Elodie and I were all involve as helping hands, Zwarte Pieten. My little sister Anna immediately recognized me, however, my mother did not! For more than two weeks the inside of my ear remained black, urging my mother all the time to tell me to wash my ears better.

Over Christmas, we went to Lankayan, a tiny spot of an island. There, we did a 5 day diving course, and got our PADI license. We had a very sweet diving instructor, Sophie. We also celebrated Christmas there, with fun and games. On top, you can see how we made a sand-turtle for the sandcastle contest, with which we failed to win: as a turtle is no castle, we had ignored the objective. Sweet little Anna however won the first prize. Do I smell bribery here?
The other game was "tomato dancing" and you can see Elodie and me gracefully dancing together underneath. We tried to involve my mother, but she blandly refused, as she swore never to be involved in any game like that.

There was also a turtle hatchery on the island, and on Christmas morning, one of the nests came out and almost 100 little turtles wee crawling around. I was the first to see them! as soon as the staff found out, they rushed towards them,  because they have to be brought to the see as fast as possible, to increase their chance of surviving. Still, black-tip sharks had them for Christmas breakfast.

We saw loads of monkeys, orangutans, proboscis monkeys and macaques, so we felt very much at home in Borneo.
In
Kota Kinabalu, we tried rafting. The lady of the hotel assured us, that it was all nice and easy, and everybody could do it. How different appeared the reality. We were upside down more than half of the time and even if we were up straight, the water would fill the boat before you could count to three. So we did it for almost an hour and that was it.
The same cannot be said for the adventure park, which Vincent and me were allowed to visit: we could have stayed much longer, riding buggies and climbing plastic mountains, if only my mother would have bought the most expensive option for us!

In March, our school had the yearly "Sports Day". The first time it was planned, 5 minutes before it started to rain, so we had go go to class all day dressed and painted in yellow. The second time we were more lucky. Our team did not win anything. Therefore, we received the award of "most sportive team".
I am still a "game addict" and my favorite one nowadays is "Runescape", to be pronounced as "rune-scape" but my mother to my endless annoyance pronounce it as "run-escape". I try to convince her to make me a member against a monthly fee, but have not succeeded yet. Because even though per month it is small, she always shows me that per year it is rather expensive. But you see, even my girlfriends are members!
