VINCENT 2005/6

For my 13th birthday, my parents let me have a beer. Unfortunately, this happened in the American Club and we almost got kicked out, as it is forbidden there to serve alcohol under 18. And, obviously, it is also forbidden to joke under 18.
As my mother was afraid of American follow up, she decided to strange strategy and moved from beer to cookie buffet and cakes. That was sweet, however, I think it is time to move forward to beer!

Like in Tashkent, we managed to find a bowling alley. The alley is not of perfect quality, you have to throw hard and straight, otherwise the ball tends to roll off. My mother is such a weak woman, that she hits the gutter all the time; I Throw straight for a good moodsometimes reach one hundred points, but if I don't, the psychological consequences hit me like a boomerang and my mood will be extremely low, making Teb promise me that we will "not go for bowling in the next year", which usually lasts only until the next weekend.
On Friday we still go to the Dutch Club each week, where we swim and play tennis. My sister Anna enjoys swimming with me very much. Victor and I participated in a four weeks swimming training at school and in a swimming match in the American School. But as it appeared they also invited swimmers from the national swim team, we did not manage to win any metals.
Nowadays, I also take my skateboard to the club, and when nobody is playing tennis on the side court, I grab my chances and use the wonderful smooth tennis top layer for my skateboarding.

On the 20th of October it was "Mad Hair Day" in our school. Bad hairday is something we know, but mad hairday? We had to come up with something really weird. So my mother braided Elodies hair, and put a pencil in and Christmas decorations. And I had many little ponytails and also Christmas decorations. Good thing was, that we did not have to wear our school uniforms.
In November, we went to Hua Hin, in Thailand. Even though by then it is supposed to be nice weather, we were unlucky. It was raining almost every day, there were thunderstorms and sometimes, the house was shaking. In the picture, you can see us swimming under a very dark sky, I am the right one of those tiny spots. Ten minutes after that, we had to run for our lives as rain was pouring down and we did not even have time to change, so we just drove home all the way in our swimming gear. Teb was so busy running away, that he found out when we came home, that he left his pants on the beach, where they probably still are. In the meantime, in Dhaka at home the weather was sunny without a cloud. Nevertheless, we had a good time, with swimming and ice cream at least once a day.

In the meantime, I have become a very active scout, just like my brother Victor. I was even elected to be patrol leader. The nice thing of scouting is, that we go out of Dhaka often, for camp-out, bike trips and things like that. Don't think we always wear the uniforms, actually we hardly ever have to. And for cub-scout events, we perform half naked like Indians. Luckily my mother did not manage to get a picture of that outfit.

We go to scouting every week, and as you can see form the picture, we are good scouts, obediently dressed in uniform. Another uniform we liked was the "Black Peter", the helper of Sinterklaas. We scared the wits out of our sister Anna, who did not recognize us behind the black paint.
Contrary to what you might believe for a 14-year old, I am very good with small children, and, as a consequence, they like me very much too. In the Dutch Club, I look like the Pied Piper sometimes, with a row of small girls behind me, who all want to play with me! My own little sister Anna is also great, but Elodie, she is a total different matter...
