Tomato tian

 

Endives gratin

  • 8 TOMATOES, sliced
  • 2 ONIONS, sliced
  • HANDFUL THYME, cut
  • 4 TBSP OLIVE OIL
 
  • 1 KG ENDIVES, cleaned
  • 150 GRAM BOILED HAM
  • 2 CUPS MILK
  • 2 TBSP CORN STARCH
  • 75 GRAM GRATED CHEESE

Arrange the tomatoes and the onions overlapping into a baking tray. Sprinkle with oil, thyme and salt and fresh milled pepper to taste. Bake 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.

Tian is the name of a recipe of baked vegetables and also of the earthenware dish, it is baked in.

Dissolve the corn starch in 4 tablespoons of milk. Bring the rest of the milk to the boil, add the corn starch mixture and heat, while stirring, until it thickens. Add 50 gram of the grated cheese. Roll each endive in a slice of ham and put them in a baking tray. Pour the sauce on top and sprinkle with cheese. Bake the endives 20 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
