It is a little difficult to find recipes, which really originate from Singapore. Apart from a lot of international restaurants and cooking in general (Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Italian), in Singapore cooking the most prominent influences are most probably Chinese, Indonesian and Malaysian. There is a part of the city Chinatown, where you can eat lovely Chinese dishes, and 75% of the population is Chinese. A lot of noodle dishes figure on the menu, but also satay is popular. As Singapore is surrounded by sea, you will find fish and shrimps as well.
Special days in Singapore, on which you may decide to serve these dishes, are 29 January, the founding of the city of Singapore in 1819; 15 February, Total Defense Day and 9 August, when
Singapore withdrew from the Federation of Malaysia in 1965.
